S3 Martial Arts
Building Confidence, Strength, and Belonging

Why S3 Martial Arts?

There’s nothing like it in the northern suburbs.
We offer structure, confidence, and community for neurodiverse people and the community as a whole.
Designed by people and there families who get it, delivered by instructors who care.

Training Model Options

S3 Martial Arts, delivered by Spectrum 3 INC, is a structured, therapeutic program designed to relieve the social, emotional, and developmental distress experienced by individuals living with disability—especially those who are neurodiverse or living with psychosocial disadvantage. The program specifically addresses the marginalisation, helplessness, and exclusion many of these individuals face by providing trauma-informed, adapted martial arts training that is not recreational in nature but rather benevolent in intent.

All program memberships and participation models are essential components of a layered approach that includes:

  • One-to-one training for individuals requiring intensive support, personal pacing, and confidence-building prior to integration.

  • Small group sessions for participants with similar developmental, cognitive, or physical support needs to build a sense of shared experience and social safety.

  • Family-based training that supports relational development, reduces carer stress, and builds communication capacity in familiar, trust-based settings.

  • Fully integrated martial arts classes that include both neurodiverse and neurotypical students, designed in accordance with universal design principles and informed by the social model of disability.

Inclusive Pathway to Relieve Distress and Build Confidence

Integrated Training with Neurotypical Peers

Everyone is welcome and needed for our Community

The inclusion of neurotypical students is not incidental but fundamental to the benevolent purpose of the program. Many neurodiverse individuals experience chronic social isolation and anxiety due to limited opportunities for interaction with the broader community. By learning, training, and participating alongside neurotypical peers in a safe, scaffolded environment, neurodiverse students are exposed to naturalistic social modelling, develop adaptive communication skills, and gain real-time feedback in a controlled, supportive space. This fosters self-confidence, reduces the psychological impacts of exclusion, and promotes a lasting sense of belonging.

These integrated settings also educate neurotypical students and their families, thereby reducing stigma, building empathy, and dismantling discriminatory barriers. In every format, S3 Martial Arts uses person-centred planning and adaptations—modifying equipment, delivery, instructions, and pacing to ensure dignity, safety, and progress.

All activities are grounded in the national best practices taught in Accessibility Champion Training, and align with the Australian Sports Commission’s guidance on positive experience design, universal design, and social participation. Program outcomes are not focused on athletic performance but on relieving distress, enhancing resilience, and building independence for those most vulnerable. Ongoing memberships ensure consistency, therapeutic structure, and measurable progression—each essential to delivering the charitable purpose.
